Pre-Application Enquiry

Before submitting a planning application, in some cases, it is generally good practise to engage with the Local Planning Authority. ASC Planning Consultants can tailor this enquiry to ensure you get the information you need.

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) stresses the importance of early engagement with the Local Planning Authority (LPAs) and ‘front loading’. Many Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) are more likely to engage as part of a planning application if pre-application engagement has taken place.

Generally, pre-application enquiries are confidential, and provide a benchmark with the LPA from which to work, giving clarity on what the main issues or concerns may be, and the exact requirements for any future planning application. Importantly, if a proposal is not acceptable in principle, the LPA will identity this, and with that certainty abortive costs for a full planning application and its consultants can be avoided.
